Turbo Silver E30 M3 in Southeast Michigan?

I saw this car parked at it’s workplace while I was visiting, and I had to slow down both times I passed it. It was one of the most unexpected sights I have seen in michigan, especially at the place it was parked. It is silver, has some sort of stripes on it, and it had a turbo bellmouth inlet in the right front fog light. I tried using some google-fu, but can’t find a picture of it anywhere, which is a real shame. I would have taken pictures, but that would have seemed HIGHLY suspicious given where it was parked. Does anybody know anything about this car? I really hope there is a build thread or feature on it somewhere.

That guy works in my building, had it here on Wednesday. It’s LS swapped, and all the body work is modified. Fenders are a few inches wider than stock, hood louvers were added, etc.

Aw man, why would he ruin it with the LSx. I assume it’s a true M3, based on the trunk, is that correct? And yes, it would have been wednesday that I was down there. It was parked next to a couple other notable cars too.

It is an original M3, and he has been working on it for quite a few years. I never asked why, but based on how long the modification took, my assumption is he started well before the E30 M3 bubble, and without an S14.

Also, it was parked next to a red Model S and a black 911?

That makes a lot more sense if he started when they were still depreciating. Also, those were the ones I was thinking of, and I could have sworn there was a fourth, like one of the cheaper Maseratis.

Could have been. Those are all benchmarking vehicles. There’s a ghibli there sometimes, also a California, and usually a bunch of landscaping trucks. You got lucky, the M3 isn’t here very often. I’ve only seen it around twice.

It’s an LS swap, if I recall correctly. He had it at one of Ford’s on-campus car shows last summer. I’ll see if I can dig up the pics I took, but I think I paid more attention to the ChumpCar E30 a few cars down. I think it was the same show that pic is from...

Honestly, it’s not ruined. The swap is SUPER clean. I’m not a big fan of the “LS swap ALL the things!” movement, but he did a REALLY good job.

Yea, that was one of the first times I paid attention to that lot, as it’s not very often that I am down there. I’m just a co-op at a Teir 1, and I was bringing down parts for some NVH testing.

I haven’t raced in the real world, yet. I keep meaning to make it to an HPDE or track day in my MINI (it’s had some upgrades with that in mind), but time, money, and maintenance have kept me from racing anywhere but kart-2-kart so far. I’d love to, once I have those bits sorted out though! heh...
